Questions:

1. What is a hydrocarbon?
A hydrocarbon is a molecule made of only hydrogen and carbon atoms. (Neil S.)

2. What does it means to refine a natural resourse?
They get different mixture of many compounds. (R.P)

3. What characteristics of petroleum make it a valuable resourse?
It is useful for many things product, sports and electricity things(unique). (R.P)

4. What is the likelihood of discovering a pure form of petroleum that can be used directly as it is pumped from the ground?
We cannot use crude oil commercially in its natural state. Instead we transport it by pipeline, ocaen tanker, train or barge to oil refinenes where it is separated into simpler mixture. Some mixture are ready to use , while others require further refinement. (R.P)
5.what is meant by saying that oil is crude?
Petrolem pumped from underground.(Hounakey B.)
7. Name several fuels obtained from crude petroleum. (B.J)
Grass, Gasoline, light distillates, intermediate distillates, heavy distillates and redius.
8. List four household items made from petroleum.(BJ)
a. Plastic, Clothing, electicity.
b. None
Can sombody please add something to it?

9. List several products that might not be widely and easy available if pretoleum supplies were to dwindle. (BJ)
Foils, plastic, autmobile parts, clothing, anf sports equipments.

13.
Reffering to table 3.1(page 216), a mixture of which two substances listed would be easiest to separate from each other by distillation? Explain yuour reasing. (BJ)
It will be 2-Propanol(82.4) and Cycloxane(80.7), because thir boiling points are too close to each others.

16
. How does fractional distillation differ from sample distillation?(RP)
The separation of liquid substance accoring to thier different bioling point, compounds in each fraction have a particular range of boiling point and spcific uses.

17.Petroleum fractions include light, intermediate, and heavy distillates and residues. Lst three useflu products derived from each three fractions?(RP)
21.) what is covalent bond?
is a chemical bond joined by the sharing of one or more electrons especially power of electrons.(Hounakey B.)
22.Why do atoms with filled outer electron shells not form covalent?
that every electron shelll beyond the 1st has a total capacityfor valance counter for sodium to have a full valence shell. It can do on of 2thing pack up 7 new electrons.( Hounakey B).
24.) what does each dot in a lewis dot structure represent?
It represent a best fit line drawn through several data points.(Hounakey B).
26.) A. what information does a structural formula convey that a molecular formula does not?
dots surrounding each element's symbol represent he valence electrons for that atom.(Hounakey B)
26.) B. the midle carbon atom is attached to two hydrogen atoms, but the carbon atom at each end is is attached 3 hydrogen.(Hounakey B)
30.)calculate the molar mass of each alkene listed in Question 29.
A carbon + 20 Hydrogen, 16carbon+32 Hydrogen.(Hounakey B).
33.)are the following three molecule isomers on the book on page 235 isomers of one another?
They are the same important, they arranged differently.(Hounakey B)
